VPN Subscription Setup Guide
Create an account, get your subscription, and connect to a server. Follow the steps in order, then check that the sites you need are accessible.
Create an account and save your login details
First, open the account creation page in the user panel. Enter a username and password, then follow the on-screen instructions to submit. VarVPN doesn't require an email address. Choose a username that's easy to recognize but doesn't include sensitive personal information. Use a unique password and store it in a trusted password manager. You'll need this account to get your subscription, check orders, and submit support tickets.
After submitting, make sure you can access the user panel before choosing a plan. If your username is unavailable, follow the prompt to choose another and try again. If you already have an account, return to the login page instead of creating another one. On a public or shared device, don't save your password in the browser, and sign out when you're finished.
Save both your username and password; don't rely on the browser to keep you signed in. You'll need them if you switch devices or clear your browser data. Creating an account only gives you access to the panel—it doesn't activate a subscription. Next, choose a plan and check its status after completing your order.
Start FreeChoose a plan and check your order status
Go to the plans section of the user panel and decide whether a monthly plan or a data package suits you. Monthly plans are suited to regular use: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, or ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date. Data packages suit more occasional or variable use: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, or ¥658/3000GB. They remain valid until used and never expire.
Choose based on how you actually use the service, then consider the data allowance. Document collaboration, web browsing, and extended video streaming use different amounts of data, so the number of devices alone isn't enough to determine the right plan. VarVPN supports unlimited devices, but you'll still need to manage their combined usage within your plan's allowance. If you upgrade a monthly plan mid-cycle, the price difference is converted into remaining days. Check the calculation shown in the panel before proceeding.
Once you've chosen a plan, check the order amount, data allowance, and billing method. Then select Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT on the payment page. After the payment provider confirms the payment, return to the user panel to check the order status and current plan. If the status hasn't updated, refresh the panel before checking again; don't create duplicate orders. If you still have questions, submit a support ticket through the panel with your order details. Don't share payment credentials on public pages.
VarVPN offers a 30-day no-questions-asked refund. See the refund policy for how to apply and the full terms. Once your plan is active, go to the account overview to get your subscription. If you haven't decided which billing option to choose, check the full plan pricing first; there's no need to look for a payment option in the client.
Choose a planGet your subscription and prepare to import it
Open the account overview in the user panel and check your current plan and data allowance, then find the subscription or import option. A subscription gives your client access to available servers and their configurations; it's not a bookmark or an installer. Usually, you just need to import it into your client. Use the client's subscription update feature to get configuration changes later, rather than entering each server manually.
If the panel offers an import option for your client, make sure the client is installed before importing. When your system asks which app to open, confirm that it's the intended client. If the client doesn't open or the panel doesn't offer a matching option, copy the subscription URL and choose the option to add a subscription by URL in the client. Supported configuration formats vary, so prefer the option the panel provides for your client.
Your subscription URL may contain account-specific access credentials. Keep it as secure as a password. Don't post the full URL on social media, in public documents, or on online conversion sites, and don't send screenshots that show it. The example below is a fake URL for illustration only and cannot be used to connect. Always copy your actual subscription from your own user panel.
https://example.com/sub?token=YOUR_TOKEN
When copying the URL, make sure you have the entire string and haven't added spaces, line breaks, or punctuation at the end. If the panel doesn't show an available subscription yet, go back and check your order and plan status. Once your subscription is ready, get the client for your device's operating system. You don't need to keep pasting the URL into a browser address bar to test whether it works.
Open the account overviewInstall a client and import your subscription
Download the VarVPN client for your operating system from the user panel. Don't use installers from unverified sources. Sign in to download clients for Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux. Get your subscription from the panel after signing in, and make sure your plan is active before connecting. The iOS download requires an active plan. The steps below describe the workflow in clients that support subscription management; the relevant options may be labeled “Subscription,” “Configuration,” or something similar.
Open the client downloads →Windows: Add a subscription and activate the configuration
Choose the Windows client in the user panel, install it as prompted, and open it. Find the subscription or configuration management section, then select the option to add a subscription or import from a URL. Paste the full URL copied from the account overview and give it a descriptive local name. Save and update it, wait for the server list to appear, then set this configuration as the active one.
If you use the panel's one-click import, your browser may ask whether to open an external app. Check that it's the client you installed before allowing it. After a successful import, check the active configuration and server list. An app opening doesn't mean a connection has been established. Keep the client running; next, enable the system proxy and verify access.
macOS: Import a configuration and approve system access
Download the macOS client from the downloads section, follow the installation instructions to move it into your Applications folder, and launch it. In configuration or subscription management, choose the option to add by URL, paste the subscription URL, save, and update. If the client supports importing from the panel, you can also start the import in your browser, then check the new configuration name and server list in the client.
The first time you connect, macOS may ask you to approve a network extension, VPN configuration, or proxy settings. Only approve prompts from a client whose source you've verified, and don't turn off system security protections to complete installation. If the subscription is imported but your access hasn't changed, first check that the right configuration is active and the client has the required permissions. Then continue to connection verification.
Android: Update your subscription and allow the connection request
Sign in to the user panel, download the Android client from the downloads section, and install it as prompted. Open the app, go to configuration management or subscriptions, and choose the option to add by URL. Paste the subscription URL you copied, save, and update the configuration. Check that the server list has loaded, then choose a server. Don't paste the subscription URL into the address field for an individual server.
When you connect, Android may show a VPN connection request. Check the app name before confirming. If another VPN app is already running, pause its connection before testing to avoid the two connections replacing each other. Check battery management and background activity settings only if the app is actually being stopped in the background. There's no need to change unrelated permissions during initial setup.
iOS: Access the download and add a VPN configuration
First, make sure your plan is active in the user panel. Then open the iOS link in the downloads section and follow the panel's instructions to get the compatible client. The iOS download link requires an active plan. Don't guess the app name from search results or look for an alternative download link. If the link isn't available, check your account and plan status, then ask for help through a support ticket.
After installation, find the option to add a link in the client's subscription or configuration section, then paste the compatible subscription provided by the panel. If the panel offers a one-click import for your client, you can also follow the prompt to open the app and confirm the import. Update the subscription, select a configuration and server, and allow the VPN configuration when prompted the first time you connect. Then return to the client to check the connection status.
Connect to a server and verify access
Once the subscription is imported, choose a region based on the website or service you want to use, then select an available server from the client's current list. If the service has account-region requirements, check its terms rather than choosing only by geographic distance. VarVPN covers 120+ countries / 160+ servers. Check the user panel and subscription for the regions, server types, and configurations currently available.
Connect in the client and check that the system proxy or relevant network extension is enabled. A connected status only means the app is handling the connection; it doesn't prove that every app is using that server. First, use a browser to visit a site you need, then open this site's IP lookup page to check your current exit IP and region. If the lookup fails, note the error message; a failed lookup alone doesn't mean the subscription is invalid.
During testing, change one setting at a time. If a page won't load, first check whether the subscription updates and whether your plan and data allowance are in good standing. If the server list loads but a particular service doesn't work, try another available server in the same region. If your browser works but one app doesn't, check the client's routing rules and the app's network settings. You don't need to delete all your configurations and reinstall right away.
Once the connection is stable, decide whether to enable launch at startup or background activity based on your needs. When disconnecting, make sure the client restores your system proxy settings so you don't leave a broken proxy in place after closing the app. Before changing regions later, note the server that works so you can switch back if the results aren't what you expected.
If you still can't connect, submit a support ticket in the user panel with your operating system, client, selected region, the step where the issue occurred, and what you've already tried. Hide your subscription URL and sensitive account details in screenshots. For more on choosing between IEPL, relay, and direct connections, and comparing billing methods, read the guide to choosing a service. To check available regions, see the global server locations page.
